General Fund Overview

Doyon’s tradition of giving derives from our Alaska Native values; we fund nonprofits that provide programs and services in the following three categories from the Doyon mission statement:

  1. To continue to be a financially strong Native corporation: We recognize the importance of corporate citizenship and fostering community-business partnerships. Doyon prioritizes giving to communities we primarily do business in. Historical examples funded in this category include Big Brothers Big Sisters of Alaska, Cold Climate Housing Research Center, Alaska Children’s Services and Samaritan Counseling Center.
  2. To promote the economic and social well-being of our shareholders: These donations to nonprofits focus on the economic and social well-being of our shareholders. Past recipients include rural events, tribal councils and rural education efforts.
  3. To strengthen our Native way of life: Doyon donates to Alaska Native cultural programs that enhance our Alaska Native way of life, including larger community events focusing on Alaska Native culture and well-being. Doyon gives priority to organizations working in Interior Alaska as well as in the communities where we do business. Past recipients include World Eskimo Indian Olympics, Midnight Sun Powwow and other groups promoting our Alaska Native cultures.
