Shareholder Outreach in Fort Yukon
In 1992, Doyon shareholders voted unanimously to keep enrollment open for the children
of shareholders. Open enrollment means that any child of a shareholder born after
1971, who meets the requirements, can become a Doyon shareholder. To be enrolled
in Doyon, Limited, a child must be a a) Child of an original Doyon class
A, B C, or D shareholder; b) One-quarter or more Alaska Native blood quantum;
and c) Born after December 18, 1971.
As a result of open enrollment, the number of Doyon shareholders has increased.
Currently, 45% of Doyon shareholders are under 30 years of age. These young shareholders
are Doyon’s future.
Shareholder Outreach educates youth on the many career opportunities available at
Doyon. Doyon encourages youth readiness for these employment opportunities.

- Live healthy lifestyles by choosing to be drug and alcohol-free.
- Stay in school and graduate from high school.
- Set high standards and achievements (good grades).
- Pursue higher education or training after high school.
