Lands Department Functions
The Doyon, Limited land department oversees the ongoing implementation of ANCSA and
conducts land management activities. The efforts of the department include:
- Active participation in ANCSA land conveyance activities of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM)
- Establishment of a computer-assisted lands and minerals record system which will result in Doyon's ability to more
efficiently manage its lands and natural resources
- Communications with shareholders and village corporations on land-related issues
- Advocacy of Doyon positions with state and federal governments on land and natural resource matters; coordination of
these activities with Tanana Chiefs Conference, Alaska Federation of Natives, and other regional and village corporations
- Management strategies, which ensure the protection of cultural and historical sites
- Encouragement of commercial and non-commercial uses of Doyon lands by shareholders
