Intern Success Stories
Bruce Miller
Doyon shareholder and employee Bruce Miller graduated from the University of Alaska
in December 1991 with a bachelor’s in geography with an economics minor and again
in May 1992 with a bachelor’s in business administration with an emphasis in human
resource management.
Miller currently serves as treasury and risk management specialist within the finance
department of Doyon, Limited. In addition to his previous responsibilities related
to risk management and portfolio management, Miller now works to strengthen Doyon’s
internal treasury function (cash management).
Miller’s career began with a Doyon internship the day after graduation in 1992.
He worked as an intern under the director of administration for the summer and was
funded for a year on a probationary basis. Upon completing that year of work, he
was retained by and has continued to work for the finance department. Miller comments
that Doyon’s unique position as a moderate-sized company with an outsized corporate
influence creates business opportunities that are continually exciting.
“My internship at Doyon opened doors for me that provided a career that is almost
20 years in the making.” – Doyon Shareholder Bruce Miller
