2019 Shareholder of the Year Award Nominations Sought
Doyon, Limited is currently seeking nominations for the 2019 Shareholder of the Year Awards. The deadline to nominate a shareholder for an award is Friday, October 26, 2018, at 5 p.m. AKDT.
In 2019, Doyon will award the Doyon Citizen of the Year Award, Chief Andrew Isaac Leadership Award, and the Gin’tith (Richard Frank) Military Service Award. The awards presented are rotated on a yearly basis with the exception of the Citizen of the Year, which is awarded annually.
Nominees should exemplify the characteristics detailed in the award descriptions below. Each nominee should only be nominated for one award. Tribes and village corporations are encouraged to nominate individuals from their community.
- The newly renamed Poldine Carlo Doyon Citizen of the Year Award recognizes a person who has demonstrated leadership, strong commitment, competence and sensitivity in the educational and cultural survival of Alaska Natives. Recipients may be chosen for contributions in the fields of health or education, maintenance of a traditional lifestyle, or for the example they set as parents.
- Chief Andrew Isaac Leadership Award recognizes a person age 35 or younger who has demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities. The award is named in honor of the late Chief Andrew Isaac, who emphasized the importance of education for youth to become leaders of tomorrow.
- Gin’tith (Richard Frank) Military Service Award recognizes an Alaska Native who demonstrates a strong commitment and willingness to serve in the U.S. armed forced in the defense of the United States of America.
