2020 Shareholder of the Year Nominations Sought
Doyon, Limited is currently seeking nominations for the shareholder of the year awards. The deadline to nominate a shareholder for an award is Friday, October 25, 2019, at 5 p.m. AKDT.
At the March 2020 annual meeting, Doyon will award the Poldine Carlo Citizen of the Year Award, the Hannah Solomon Elder of the Year Award, and the Daaga’ Community Service Award.
Nominees should exemplify the characteristics detailed in the award descriptions below. Each nominee should only be nominated for one award. Tribes and village corporations are encouraged to nominate individuals from their communities.
Poldine Carlo Citizen of the Year Award recognizes a person who has demonstrated leadership, strong commitment, competence and sensitivity in the educational and cultural survival of Alaska Natives. Recipients may be chosen for contributions in the fields of health or education, maintenance of a traditional lifestyle, or for the example they set as parents.
Hannah Solomon Elder of the Year Award recognizes an Elder, aged 55 or older, who has devoted his or her life toward the betterment of Alaska Natives. The award is named in honor of the late Hannah Solomon, who dedicated her life to teaching the younger generation our traditional ways.
Daaga’ Community Service Award recognizes a community or individual who shows strong commitment, competence, and sensitivity in helping others make their community a healthier and safer place to live, and whose accomplishments have directly affected Alaska Natives.
