Doyon Alerted of Telephone Scam Relating to Taxes
Doyon, Limited was recently notified that a telephone scam including Doyon’s name has been reported. Doyon’s name had been used to solicit personal information from individuals regarding taxes and Doyon dividend receipts. Doyon is not calling shareholders regarding taxes.
Dividend disbursement 1099 forms for 2017 tax purposes were mailed in January and the dividends are taxable income. Shareholder-related updates on dividends and 1099 forms are provided in Doyon’s monthly shareholder e-newsletter and sometimes information is communicated by direct email depending on the urgency.
Occasionally, Doyon conducts shareholder surveys over the phone, but never asks for personal financial information. Shareholders are strongly encouraged to be cognizant of the many tax-related phone scams that take place this time of year and should not provide personal or financial information to unknown callers.
