Doyon Announces 2015 Holiday Artwork Contest Winners
The annual Doyon, Limited holiday artwork contest was a huge success this year. Doyon received more than a dozen entries from young shareholders all over Alaska, as well as from our out-of-state shareholders. Each piece was beautifully done, and we thank all who participated.
The contest was open to Doyon shareholders and shareholder direct descendants between the ages of 5 – 17. Submissions were required to be original artwork, and could be painted, hand-drawn, photography or digital. The artwork had to feature a holiday theme and represent Doyon’s mission and values.
Congratulations to this year’s first-place winner, Audrey Schick, age 15, from Juneau, Alaska. Her submission was created using Adobe Photoshop CC and a Wacom Intuous tablet, and featured her great grandmother, grandmother and her mother. Schick will receive an engraved 16 gigabyte iPad mini and have her art displayed on the 2015 Doyon holiday calendar as well as the Doyon corporate holiday card. Schick is an extremely talented young artist and we hope to see more from her in the future.
Our second place winner, Alani Emry, age 13, from Northway, Alaska will receive a $50 gift card along with a variety of art supplies. Her detailed artwork captured the holiday theme, highlighted Native values, and creatively incorporated the Doyon logo. The selection committee described her depiction of the aurora borealis over the mountains as especially beautiful.
The third place winner, Kaylon Madros, age 15, of Nulato, Alaska won a gift card for her drawing of a Christmas tree surrounded by high mountains and the rising sun. Her piece stood out due to its strikingly bright colors, abstract lines and incredible detail.
The holiday card/calendars featuring Schick’s artwork will arrive in shareholder mailboxes in early December, so be sure to keep an eye out for yours. Also, watch Doyon’s social media channels for postings of all the entries as we get closer to the holidays.
Again, Doyon thanks all the young shareholders who participated in the holiday artwork contest. We look forward to seeing more wonderful pieces of work in our 2016 holiday artwork contest!
