Doyon Continues on with Sustainability Development
Doyon has implemented numerous sustainability projects and programs at the Doyon Family of Companies. Recently, management has begun to work towards a more formal overall plan for sustainability at Doyon. The impetus for this began in 2018 when the board of directors passed resolution 2018-54, which revised Doyon’s values to include “commitment to long-term sustainability.” The board’s vision of sustainability incorporates both the business and environmental aspects of the word.
Previous sustainability accomplishments include decreased use of single-use plastics, installing solar panels on the Doyon Plaza roof, LEED gold certification at Kantishna Roadhouse, Doyon Utilities Landfill Gas Plant at JBER, and a recycling facility in Denali Park implemented by Doyon/ARAMARK. These are just a few projects that Doyon has undertaken with sustainability in mind.
Moving forward, Doyon plans to practice sustainability internally as a company through initiatives developed by team members as well as by encouraging sustainability in the Doyon region through partnerships, outreach, and through participation in the carbon markets.
