Doyon Engages with Tolovana Hot Springs
In early November 2020, the Doyon Lands and Natural Resources Department provided notice of trespass to Tolovana Hot Springs, Limited. The notice was issued after an extended negotiation for a commercial access permit across about a half-mile of Doyon’s surface-owned land on the Elliott Highway that had been established without Doyon’s written authorization.
Doyon worked with Tolovana Hot Springs for several months to resolve the unpermitted access and to address potential liability issues for their business use, to ensure safety, and to address litter management. Doyon was pleased to resolve this issue with Tolovana Hot Springs and looks forward to ensuring that permissions are in place when the public needs access across Doyon lands.
