
Doyon Drilling Seeks Applications for 38th Roustabout Training Class
Doyon Drilling is currently seeking applicants for the 38th roustabout training class. The application period, which opened July 2, 2018, will close Friday, September 14, 2018, at 5 p.m. AKDT. A roustabout position is the first step to working on a Doyon Drilling oil rig. These workers must have both strength and stamina to successfully complete their duties, which include proper loading and unloading of materials, general maintenance and cleaning of oil rigs, and providing vital support for the drill floor crew. Once hired, roustabouts can work in remote areas of Alaska from the Kenai Peninsula to the North Slope. Most work a two-week on and off schedule.
The roustabout program is very competitive, as it offers free training to Doyon, Limited shareholders who are selected. When applying, applicants are encouraged to include as much detail as possible regarding work history, related experience and reasons for any lapses in employment. Applicants are required to include all necessary documents (including a copy of their high school diploma). Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Once submitted, applicants will receive a confirmation email that their application has been received. Those selected for further review will be contacted to begin the interview process. Those selected will be required to attend a two-week intensive training in Delta Junction, and are expected to be able to attend the complete training without distractions.
