
Doyon in the Community
Doyon, Limited was pleased to be involved with several important community events this past month relating to the Alaska Federation of Natives convention.

Doyon President and CEO Aaron Schutt joins others in welcoming the 2016 AFN delegates, attendees and the Fairbanks Four at the AFN Welcome and Fairbanks Four Potlatch on October 19 at the Big Dipper Ice Arena in Fairbanks.

AFN co-chair and Doyon board member, Jerry Isaac, addresses convention delegates and attendees at the 2016 AFN convention. Doyon thanks Isaac for his service to all Alaska Natives as AFN co-chair. Isaac, who co-chaired his last AFN convention this year, did not seek reelection as co-chair and was replaced by Interior incumbent, Will Mayo.

On October 21, Doyon held a celebratory luncheon for Emil Notti, AFN keynote and Doyon’s first president. The event took place at the Doyon Associated shop in Fairbanks, and was catered by Doyon Facilities. Doyon President and CEO Aaron Schutt participated as an AFN convention Land into Trust special update panelist with five others on October 20.

Sarah Obed, Doyon’s vice president of external affairs, served as a moderator at the 2016 AFN convention candidates forum with First Alaskans president, Liz Medicine Crow; AFN co-chair, Ana Hoffman; and Central Council Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska president, Richard Peterson, on October 21.
