Doyon Youth Participate in Middle School Academy
Eleven youth from the Doyon region participated in the November 2019 Middle School Academy session, hosted by the Alaska Native Science and Engineering Program (ANSEP).
Throughout this two-week, on-campus educational experience, students had the opportunity to learn more about science, technology, engineering, and math. Students engaged in a variety of hands-on activities, such as building a computer, dissecting a squid, testing structures on an earthquake simulation table, and much more.
Doyon, Limited supported the middle school program with education contributions the company receives for mineral exploration within the region. As part of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA), Doyon selected lands for purposes including local use and resource development. Areas chosen for resource development were chosen in partnership with Doyon communities to help promote the social and economic well-being of communities and shareholders.
