Hunting Season Safety Tips
Doyon would like to wish everyone good luck and remind hunters to stay safe and maintain social distancing. Below are a few hunting safety tips:
Prepare for anything. Carry a first aid kit and survival kit. Aircraft and boating accidents are the leading cause of hunting-related injuries and fatalities in Alaska. Be prepared for an overnight stay if things don’t go as planned.
Communicate. Tell someone where you are going and when you expect to return.
Gun safety. Treat every gun as if it is loaded, keep your finger off the trigger and out of the trigger guard until ready to shoot, keep gun pointed in a safe direction, and be aware of your target’s surroundings.
Weather safety. Check local weather conditions before departure.
Life jacket. Always wear a properly fitted life jacket when on or near water.
