Message to Shareholders
Happy 2018! I hope you had a safe and joyous holiday season. The new year brings excitement and the promise for what is to come; our employees at Doyon feel the same excitement. Specifically, we have our most important meeting of the year, the annual meeting of shareholders and board election, to look forward to in March. The annual meeting will take place in Fairbanks at the Westmark Fairbanks Hotel on March 16, with doors opening at 8 a.m. and the meeting starting at 9 a.m.
We mailed important annual meeting and board election materials to shareholders on January 23. On January 24, we emailed the same materials to shareholders who opted-in to receive the documents electronically. Eligible voting shareholders can hand-deliver, mail, fax, email or complete their proxy online via eProxy until March 14 at 3 p.m. AKDT. Be sure to vote by the early bird deadline of February 16 to be eligible for all prize drawings, which total $21,000.
There are 11 candidates vying for four opens seats on the Doyon board this year; one of the elected directors must be a rural candidate. More information and links to video interviews with each of the candidates can be found in this newsletter. Please remember to vote and encourage those around you to do the same. Every vote counts!
In addition to the election, shareholders at the annual meeting will hear reports from board and management on Doyon’s fiscal year 2017 performance, current initiatives and keynote addresses. We’ll also present several Shareholder of the Year Awards, including the Daaga’ Community Service, Doyon Citizen of the Year and Hannah Paul Solomon Elder of the Year awards.
In other news, I am pleased to share that on January 8, 2018, Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI) announced that it will partner with Doyon again in the oil and gas exploration efforts in the Nenana basin in summer 2018. The new well, called Totchaket #1, will be drilled about 20 miles north of Nenana, on the east side of the Tanana River. I’m excited to partner with CIRI again, especially in light of the promising results we received from the last 3D seismic testing conducted in 2017.
I look forward to seeing many of you at the annual meeting. If you can’t join us in person, remember the meeting will also be webcasted live on the internet. The password for login is 031618Transformation.
Thank you for your continued support and please remember to vote as soon as you get your Doyon election materials.
