Message to Shareholders
Dear Shareholders,
This past May many of us celebrated our friends and family on their recent educational accomplishments – congratulations to all and good luck in your future endeavors!
As Alaska enters fire season, Doyon, Limited will be in frequent contact with the Bureau of Land Management Alaska Fire Service and the Alaska Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry. Doyon provides these organizations with the current Native land status and contact information for village corporations in the Interior as well as ensuring that fire management officers are aware of Native allotment locations. For tips on safe burning during the 2020 fire season, please see page six of this newsletter.
I am proud to announce that the Doyon Settlement Trustees (DST) approved an early distribution to DST beneficiaries to provide relief to families impacted by COVID-19 and to assist during the related economic crisis. The DST will issue a non-taxable trust distribution in the amount of $5.44 per unit, or $544 per 100 units, to Doyon shareholders who are beneficiaries of the DST. The distribution was originally scheduled for July 9, 2020, but was rescheduled for June 3, 2020.
I would like to thank all our shareholders for your patience during these challenging times. As part of the ongoing safety efforts, Doyon employees will remain assigned to two staggered shifts that do not physically interact with each other, and a third group will remain working from home. These measures are meant to protect our staff, shareholders, and the general public. As we enjoy the rest of this beautiful summer, I would like to remind everyone that it is important to stay safe during these unprecedented times and follow the guidelines in place to help protect yourself and your loved ones from the COVID-19 pandemic.
