The Doyon, Limited shareholder reception took place at the Hilton Anchorage Hotel on October 18. More than 500 people attended to visit with other shareholders, enjoy a meal, update documents with shareholder records, learn about what’s happening at Doyon, speak with board members, and honor former state Sen. Albert Kookesh.
The evening began with guitar and fiddle music by local musicians, followed by an introduction of board members in attendance. Former state Sen. Kookesh was then thanked for his many years of service to Alaska and his constituents. Many of Kookesh’s family members were in attendance to help honor him, and they performed a song and dance for the audience. Following the Tlingit dance was an Athabascan song to thank Kookesh and his family.
Doyon President and CEO Aaron Schutt thanked all the shareholders and guests for attending the reception. “It is always a privilege to be able to share food, visit and laugh with other shareholders,” Schutt said.
