Chairman Christopher Simon lives in Fairbanks, Alaska. Simon was re-elected to the Doyon board in 2018. He serves as chair of the Doyon board of directors, Doyon Oil Field Services, Doyon Government Contracting, Inc., Doyon Natural Resources Development Corporation, and Executive Committee. He has a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and a master’s degree in education leadership from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, as well as an education leadership certificate from the University of Alaska Anchorage. Simon is the Chief Administrative Officer at K’oyitl’ots’ina, Limited. He served as the Rural Education Coordinator for the Alaska Department of Education & Early Development and superintendent of the Yukon-Koyukuk School District. He was the principal in Hughes, Huslia (his hometown) and Nenana and enjoyed preparing the young people for life along with coaching basketball and cross-country running. At Tanana Chiefs Conference he was the deputy director of Health Services. Simon is proud to have been born and raised in rural Alaska and served on numerous education-related boards and committees. He is married to Letha and they have three children.
