Shareholder Spotlight: Andrew Jimmie recipient of Healthy Alaska Natives Foundation’s President’s Legacy & Leadership Award
Doyon Shareholder and former board member, Andrew (Andy) Jimmie, was honored with the Foundation’s 2015 President’s Legacy & Leadership award, at the 8th annual Raven’s Ball; Gala for Alaska Native Health. This award is presented to leaders in the Alaska Native Community who have made a difference in the culture and performance of the Alaska Native Tribal Health System and made outstanding contributions towards the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium’s (ANTHC) vision of Alaska Natives being the healthiest people in the world.
Over the last 24 years, Andrew has dedicated himself to the Alaska Tribal Health Care System. A highly respected member of the Native community, his leadership; kindness, humbleness, cultural integrity, and compassion is admired and respected by all who have the opportunity to work with him, and by leadership throughout the state of Alaska.
Andrew played a pivotal role in the creation of the Dental Health Aid Program for Alaska and has worked passionately for the Alaska Tribal Health System; tackling substance abuse, mental health issues and decreasing suicide rates; and, the implementation of low-cost water and sewer solutions for rural Alaska.
“He infuses culture from our interior region into a board room, which is hard to do; into a management meeting, which is hard to do; and people love his leadership.” said Doyon President & CEO Aaron Schutt about working with Andrew.
