Shareholder Spotlight: Facilities Team
The Doyon, Limited Facilities team consists of hard-working, self-motivated individuals who work in harmony with each other. The team coordinates multiple large events throughout the year as well as various jobs during the work-week. These jobs can range from exceptional catering, constructing events, building maintenance and managing commercial properties.
The team operates as a family and this is especially noticed when they are tasked with hosting events. Once the team arrives on location they work together swiftly and efficiently to get the job done.
Doyon Facilities manager, Carole-Ann Newcomer, is passionate about excellence and strives to instill this in her team. Every area the team is involved with reflects this attitude.
The last quarter of the year brings several big holidays that occupy the majority of Facilities’ time. The team recently hosted the October Halloween carnival in Fairbanks, which brought in hundreds of shareholders and their families. The Doyon Plaza was converted into a fun-filled, spooky area that consisted of a haunted house, games, prizes, snow-cones, dinner and, of course, plenty of candy. The team went all out with each area, from setup, to serving food, to hosting the games for kids. Along with the carnival, the team had decorated the entire Doyon building with festive decorations several weeks before.
After packing up the Halloween decorations, the team shifted gears to focus on Thanksgiving and Christmas. On November 16, a lunch fundraiser was held to raise money for the Christmas is for Kids program. Several other fundraisers were also organized to support this program. The Christmas is for Kids program provides gifts to children in Doyon region communities, and is funded by Doyon employee payroll contributions and fundraising by the Facilities team.
Doyon Facilities also manages commercial properties in Fairbanks, such as the Jimmy Huntington Building, Doyon Industrial Facility, and Doyon, Limited Plaza. The team endeavors to be the leader in providing and managing commercial office space in the Fairbanks area. To ensure tenants are satisfied and properties operate smoothly, they are available 24 hours a day.
The Facilities team is often behind the scenes, but they definitely make a notable difference whether seen or unseen.
