
Subsidiary News: Doyon Companies Welcome Summer Interns
Each year, Doyon, Limited and other businesses in the family of companies welcome shareholders as summer interns. The internship program gives shareholders the opportunity to gain valuable experience, while providing the companies with additional staff support during the summer months. Sidaadza Williams, Reservations Agent Intern for Doyon Tourism, Inc.
Sidaadza Williams is the daughter of Andy Simon, Sr. and Hilda Williams of Allakaket. Her paternal grandparents were the late Lee and Sarah Simon and her maternal grandparents were the late Joe, Sr. and Rhea Williams of Allakaket.
After graduation from Allakaket High School in 2013, Williams moved to Fairbanks to attend the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where she just completed her first year of studies in business administration.
“It is a great learning experience,” Williams said of her experience at Doyon to date. “I am really grateful to have such an amazing opportunity to work as a intern for Doyon Tourism.”
Richard Charles Harasick, Accounting Intern at DRFS
Richard Harasick is the son of Robert and Marilyn Harasick and the grandson of Shirley Butler-Bussdieker.
Harasick is originally from Fairbanks, and recently moved to Anchorage from Durango, Colorado. He attended the United States Military Academy at West Point for three and a half years and then transferred to Fort Lewis College, where he received a bachelor’s in accounting and qualified to sit for his CPA exam.
“It’s a friendly and fun workplace environment and a great learning experience,” Harasick said of his time so far at Doyon.
Curtis Richardson, Construction Intern at DRFS
Curtis Richardson is from Anvik, and currently resides in Anchorage. He is the son of Renee and Gary Richardson and the grandson of Alex Richardson. His family also includes his brother Donald Richardson, sister Tawyna Richardson, significant other Kathrin Huntington, and son Mikael Huntington.
Richardson is currently attending the University of Alaska Anchorage, where he is pursuing a bachelor’s of science degree in construction project management.
“Although my time with Doyon Remote Facilities and Services has been short, I have come to realize that this company has great employees and leaders. I am very excited as well as grateful for this opportunity to be an intern with Doyon for the summer,” Richardson said.
Dylan Thomas Gavora, Utility Fitter Trainee I
Dylan Gavora, a lifelong Fairbanks resident, is the son of Steven Gavora and Maria Zaveral, and the nephew of Dan Gavora.
He is currently attending Washington State University with a dual major in economics and finance.
“I’ve enjoyed working at Doyon Utilities because every day is a great learning experience,” Gavora said.
Dylan Gavora, a lifelong Fairbanks resident, is the son of Steven Gavora and Maria Zaveral, and the nephew of Dan Gavora.
He is currently attending Washington State University with a dual major in economics and finance.
“I’ve enjoyed working at Doyon Utilities because every day is a great learning experience,” Gavora said.
DeWayne Hailey, Utility Fitter Trainee II
DeWayne Hailey is from Kaltag, but currently resides in Fairbanks. He is the son of Mary and Dewayne, Sr. Hailey. His siblings include brothers Dylan and Dallas Hailey, and sisters Daphne Glowner, Dylana Hailey and Chalisa Attla. His maternal grandparents are Mary and Ray Neglaska and his paternal grandparents are Marrie Katchaet (Walker) and Franklin Madros.
Blaine McBurney, Utility Fitter Trainee II
Blaine McBurney, who was born and raised in Fairbanks, is the grandson of Tim and Mary Wallis. He is currently attending the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where he is pursuing a degree in engineering.
“The Doyon Utilities family has become a family away from home – (they’re) a great group of people,” McBurney said.
Elvina Carlo, IT Intern
Elvina Carlo is from both Koyukuk and Tanana, and she currently lives in Fairbanks with her husband David Carlo and their children Nathan, Orlando, Joshua and David II. Her mother is Effie Kemp, her stepfather is Gerald Roberts, and her grandparents are Amelia and Joseph Nelson.
Carlo graduated from the University of Alaska Fairbanks with an associate’s of applied science in information technology specialist, network and systems administration.
“I have enjoyed working at Doyon Utilities. I work with a great team. I have not only learned about the company, but I have learned a lot in my field of study. Thank you for this opportunity to be a part of your team,” Carlo said.
Michael Settle, Mechanical/Utility Fitter Helper
Michael Settle is originally from Galena, but currently lives in Fairbanks with his wife Julie and their two children Levi and Ember. His grandparents are Archie and Virginia Thurmond.
Settle graduated from Galena City School and went on to get his instrumentation technician certificate from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, Tanana Valley Campus.
Settle is enjoying his internship this summer and said that Doyon Utilities is a “fun place to work.”
