Yukon Flats Oil and Gas Exploration Update
Doyon and Hilcorp Alaska signed an agreement for oil and gas exploration on 1.6 million acres of land in the Yukon Flats in late 2019. The land pattern in the region was established early in Doyon’s history through land coordination agreements with village corporations to maximize land ownership to pursue potential oil and gas development and provide extra land for local uses in the event that a discovery was made. Doyon has conducted prior work in the region in partnership with local village businesses and corporations to continue to build more data in the region. Most recently, work was done in 2013 near Stevens Village.
A passive aerial gravity survey of Yukon Flats was completed in early June 2020. It will take some time for Hilcorp Alaska to analyze the data. The next phase of the project includes the opportunity to continue with additional activities, such as on the groundwork. Doyon will continue to host shareholder engagement discussions with communities in the region and share more information on the Doyon website at www.doyon.com.
