Doyon, Limited is pleased to announce Vern Johnson as Fairweather’s new President and General Manager.
With nearly three decades of oil and gas experience, including leadership roles in complex onshore, Arctic, offshore, and remote drilling and completions operations, Johnson brings extensive expertise and a proven track record of operational excellence. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Drilling and Completions at Santos, where he oversaw drilling and completions for the Pikka Development program in Alaska.
Since moving to Alaska in 2000, Johnson has held senior positions directing drilling and completions across major North Slope projects such as Kuparuk, Alpine, Beluga, Oooguruk, Nuna, and Pikka, as well as multiple exploration initiatives in the region. His experience also includes operational leadership for gas projects in Cook Inlet and international assignments in the Middle East.
Vern holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Dalhousie University and is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
This transition comes as Rick Fox, our current President and General Manager, prepares for his retirement in April 2026. The extended transition period will provide Vern with the opportunity to get to know operations before assuming full responsibility for the role.
“We are excited to welcome Vern to the team,” said Tanya Kaquatosh, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. “His depth of experience in Alaska’s energy sector and strong leadership background make him an excellent fit to guide Fairweather into the future. We also extend our gratitude to Rick for his many years of leadership and service. His dedication has set the foundation for continued success.”
Fairweather joined the Doyon Family of Companies in 2023, providing expertise in oilfield support, weather, logistics, and medical services on the North Slope.
Please join us in welcoming Vern Johnson and congratulating Rick Fox on his upcoming retirement!
