Noah Matheson is the son of Fred Matheson of Holy Cross, Alaska, and Maggie Matheson of Los Angeles, California. He is the proud grandson of immigrant parents Violeta Barillas of Santa Ana, El Salvador, and Juan Milagros Lopez of Camaguey, Cuba, as well as Elaine Richards (who has been a dedicated employee of Doyon for almost 40 years) of Holy Cross, Alaska, and Herman Matheson of Guyana, South America.
Noah is a dedicated and passionate hockey player who recently represented Fairbanks, Alaska, the Doyon Region, and Holy Cross in the Pacific Regional Championship. His commitment to the sport is matched by his dedication to personal growth, strong character, and the well-being of those around him. He is setting himself up for a successful regional match in February of 2026. Hopefully this year we come back with the championship against those who are representing the Pacific Districts in states like California and Washington.
Off the ice, Noah serves as an exceptional role model for his peers. He promotes healthy living by demonstrating the importance of balanced nutrition, consistent physical activity, and thoughtful goal setting. He excels both academically and athletically, consistently applying perseverance and discipline in the classroom and on the rink. He holds a 4.0 right now and encourages his teammates, peers, and youth to strive for greatness. Over the Thanksgiving weekend, he spent his time helping at the HCF Dryland workouts with Mrs. Sarah Middleton. He tries to inspire the younger players to take care of their body, mind, and soul.
Noah’s aspirations extend beyond his personal achievements. After graduating from college, he hopes to give back to his community by encouraging others to make healthy, positive lifestyle choices. His leadership, dedication, and genuine community spirit make him an outstanding candidate for this recognition.
“I have never met a young man so passionate about his sport, committed to living a healthy lifestyle, and devoted to serving as a role model for younger hockey players. He leads by example—encouraging his peers to make healthy choices, stay active, and work hard toward their goals. His commitment extends beyond the rink; he excels academically and is determined to give back to his community after graduating from college,” said Maryann Gomez, Noah’s maternal aunt.
