Doyon lands are open for subsistence activities for shareholders.

Shareholders are free to gather berries, fungi, and other natural resources, as well as engage in recreation, subsistence hunting, and fishing with no permit required.

Shareholder land use

Doyon welcomes shareholders to explore and utilize Doyon Lands. Shareholders are free to gather berries, fungi, and other natural resources, as well as engage in recreation, subsistence hunting, and fishing with no permit required.

NO LAND USE PERMIT REQUIRED:

  • Gathering berries, fungi, and other natural resources
  • Subsistence hunting
  • Fishing
  • Recreation activities 


LAND USE PERMIT REQUIRED:

  • Firewood cutting
  • Setting up semi-permanent camps
  • Establishing trap lines


Permits help Doyon understand local land use and mitigation impacts to cultural sites, and ensure Doyon addresses vicinity to allotments and other high use areas.

Non-shareholder land use

Non-Doyon shareholders are not allowed to utilize Doyon’s private lands unless granted a land use permit. Land use permits are given for limited, specific reasons. To inquire about obtaining a land use permit, contact the Lands and Natural Resources department.  

PERMITTED LAND USE FOR NON-SHAREHOLDERS COULD INCLUDE:

Permitted land use to non-shareholders could include:

Doyon reserves the right to deny or revoke any land use permits or requests at any time.

LAND USE PERMITS ARE NOT GIVEN FOR:

  • Hunting
  • Commercial fishing
  • Camping
  • Recreating

Using Doyon lands for any of the above reasons is considered  trespassing and is subject to legal action.
