On Veterans Day, Doyon held its first Veteran Appreciation event at Doyon Plaza in Fairbanks to honor and celebrate the remarkable achievements, courage, and dedication of our shareholder veterans and service members.
During the event, Chris Simon, Doyon Board Chair, presented Darrell Frank, President of the Alaska Native Veterans Association, with a Chief’s necklace and a generous donation for the organization. Veterans had the opportunity to connect, share their stories, receive handmade veterans’ necklaces from Doyon staff, and enjoy drumming and dancing of the Dene’ Eslaanh (We Are The People) dance group.
“It was a privilege to honor our veterans and service members in a new and meaningful way,” said Cheyenna Kuplack, Doyon Communications Manager. “I want to express my gratitude to everyone who came, shared stories, laughed, cried, sang, and danced with us. It was truly a heartfelt event.”
Doyon has published it’s fifth military appreciation book to honor and remember the achievements, courage, and dedication of our shareholder veterans and service members. This is a small way we can honor those who have served selflessly so that we can live in freedom.
