Doyon Drilling Inc., a leader in oil and gas exploration on the North Slope of Alaska, is excited to welcome its 50th Roustabout Training Class—a significant milestone for the program.

Established in 1982 as a joint venture between Doyon, Limited and Nugget Alaska, Inc., Doyon Drilling became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Doyon, Limited in 1993. Over the years, Doyon Drilling has earned a reputation as the industry leader in Arctic drilling, known for operating nine advanced drilling rigs designed to drill the highest quality wells in the harshest environments.

Doyon Drilling takes pride in several industry firsts. The company developed Rig 9, the first self-propelled, wheel-mounted rig specifically designed for the North Slope. Doyon Drilling was the first company on the North Slope to adopt two high line power and dual-fuel turbines, reflecting its dedication to environmental responsibility and operational versatility. One of Doyon Drilling’s most notable achievements is with Rig 141, which became the only land-operated rig to drill five winter exploration wells in a single season for three consecutive years.

At Doyon Drilling, roustabouts play a crucial role in supporting rig operations and maintenance, ensuring the smooth functioning of drilling activities. As the company prepares to welcome its 50th roustabout class, it celebrates a tradition of excellence in training and developing skilled professionals. These individuals embody Doyon Drilling’s core values of safety, innovation, and operational integrity.

Doyon Drilling remains committed to maintaining its competitive edge in the industry by continually reinvesting in resources, employees, and rigs. This dedication allows Doyon Drilling to build upon its legacy of achievement and set new benchmarks in the oil and gas sector. By fostering talent and upholding the highest standards of performance, Doyon Drilling underscores its ongoing dedication to leadership in oil and gas exploration.
