Headquartered in Fairbanks, Alaska, Doyon Utilities serves over 55,000 Soldiers, Airmen, families, and Department of Defense civilians at Fort Wainwright, Fort Greely, and Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER). Spanning a service area larger than the state of Delaware, Doyon Utilities is Alaska’s third-largest utility company. The company is owned 50% by Doyon, Limited and 50% by Corix, a North American utility company.

Here’s a look back at some key accomplishments from the past year.

Fort Wainwright

  • Heating System Upgrades: Enhancements to the Central Heat and Power Plant (CHPP), including water softener system improvements, ensured reliable heating during the extreme arctic conditions.
  • Infrastructure Projects: The completion of three major facilities – a fitness center, aquatic center, and community activity center – added thousands of feet of new water, sewer, and steam lines to the service footprint.

Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER)

  • New Water Treatment Plant: Construction began on an advanced ultrafiltration plant designed to process 7.5 million gallons of water per day. Scheduled for completion in 2025, this plant will support future mission needs while enhancing water security.
  • Landfill Gas Power Generation: The plant continued to convert methane into energy, meeting 60% of JBER’s power needs while reducing emissions by over 20,000 metric tons of CO2, equivalent to saving nearly 478,000 barrels of oil.

Fort Greely

  • Safety Milestone: The Fort Greely team celebrated 2,241 days without a lost-time injury, highlighting their commitment to safety.
