Son, Brother, Father, Cousin, Friend, Partner
Toughboy was the baby boy of the Vent family. Warner, Alberta and his older
siblings welcomed him with much happiness on May 5, 1975. When he was
brought to Huslia from the Tanana Hospital, his older siblings came up with
his nickname “Toughboy”. Oh, he was treasured by his older siblings! They all
protected him throughout his childhood.
Toughboy was willing to help anyone. He was often working on monitors,
electricity, or giving cousins boat rides at their request. He enjoyed traveling by
snow machine and boat to the family camp “First Hill”. The family would “spring
out” (spending two months) in the camp until the ice went out and the river
opened up. His siblings recall that he was the first one up and out of the tent in
the mornings.
Toughboy was a genuinely kind person. He was cheerful and smiling. As he
worked as an electrician all over the state, he made many friends. Some describe
him as having a huge, mischief smile.
He passed quickly and unexpectedly on February 16, 2023. He was preceded in
death by his older sister, Brenda; his paternal grandparents: Robert and Mary
Vent; his maternal grandparents Joe and Celia Beetus; paternal uncles and aunt:
Herbie, Freddie, Christine, and Albert; maternal uncles and aunts: Arlo, Jimmie
and Dolly; very close cousin and friend: David Frederick Vent, and many loved
ones.
Tough is survived by his parents: Warner, Sr. and Alberta Vent; son Adon Weter;
brothers: Darrell (Karen) and Leonard; sisters: Deborah (Robert) Kokrine; Sarah
(Todd) Malamute, and Ava Crystal Vent; Godson Curt Joe Kokrine; Jakob David-
Simon and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends; and his most special
friend: Darlene Sam.
Let us all remember to show kindness and love as Tough did.
