Employment Already Benefiting Yukon Flats Locals

Doyon and Hilcorp shared that local hiring for the Yukon Flats exploration project is underway, and several Yukon Flats locals and Doyon shareholders are benefitting from the opportunities. As positions continue to be available, we encourage more locals and shareholders to take advantage of these job opportunities and apply. If you or someone you know is interested in applying, please visit the Doyon Careers Webpage and search “Yukon Flats” to apply or learn more.

Rig Transport and Project Staging

In early July, a drilling rig was transported to Nikiski, Alaska, where it was staged for several days before continuing its journey to the Yukon River Bridge and later to its project site near Birch Creek. The rig will support Hilcorp’s ongoing exploration efforts near Birch Creek as part of the Yukon Flats exploration project.

Ongoing staging efforts are occurring at the Yukon River Bridge and on the project site. Staging will require the use of barges and helicopters; Yukon Flats residents might hear an uptick in helicopter activity.

Informational Session

In mid-July, Doyon hosted Hilcorp in holding another informational session to provide project updates directly to the people of the Yukon Flats. The session focused on current summer activities, including local employment opportunities and project logistics. Hilcorp also shared updates on project staging, barging, camp setup, and more details on the drilling rig.

As the project progresses, Doyon will continue working with Hilcorp to ensure shareholders in the Yukon Flats stay informed with timely updates.

Overwintering Equipment

Hilcorp has informed Yukon Flats communities that some equipment will remain onsite over the winter to allow for an efficient restart of operations next year. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
